Ezekiel 32-34
Have you ever encountered someone who was so arrogant and full of themselves? (Not judging but just calling a spade a spade.) There is a fine line between confidence and cockiness and they crossed it a LOOOOOOOOOONG time ago!? That is who Pharaoh, king of Egypt had become. This isn’t just specific to the pharaoh that was reigning during Ezekiel’s ministry. No, pharaohs past shared that same smug sense of self importance. Thinking themselves to be gods. Oh the delusion of it all. The one thing about reality though, it always comes calling. And despite Pharaoh’s best efforts, he would have to answer that call. If only he had someone to warn him…… Oh that’s right, he did. These chapters are filled with Egypt getting the fruits of her labor (AKA reaping what she has sow). Ezekiel’s calling to be a watchman is revealed (And OHHHH what a great task/ responsibility that is!!). The further judgement of Jerusalem, and the calling out of bad leaders Israel. But even with all this, we still get to see God’s love for his people. He ends with a promise of restoration, and a prophecy to make things right for the people who had been mistreated and led astray by the very ones who had be tasked to steward them and lead them well.
As you all read these chapters, keep in mind the righteousness of God, how He requires justice, and how HE still so loving and forgiving. Willing to spare those who repent and turn wholeheartedly to HIM!!! Isn’t that good news?
