2 Kings 24-25, 2 Chronicles 36

What did the Backyardigans say? Into the thick of it? That’s where we find ourselves in this lesson. There is a whole lot going on!! Soooo because of Judah’s disobedience, idolatry, and utter disregard for God, they are on the verge of being carried off into exile. However, in His compassion for His people, the Lord sends message after message, warning after warning, prophet after prophet to them to advise them to seek Him and live. Israel and Judah were given ample time to turn from their ways (and the ways of the nations around them) back to Him. But they don’t listen. The Lord is using Nebuchadnezzar as an instrument of His righteous judgment against Judah. The Lord tells the people of Judah to submit themselves to the rule of Nebuchadnezzar. Jehoiakim (who is the king of Judah at the time) initially obeys the word of the Lord and submits himself to the authority of the Babylonian king. But then things take a turn.

These chapters are filled with rebellion, siege, fighting, famine, and exile. We see the implementation of puppet kings and the destruction of the Lord’s house. I’m going to stop right here for now because I’ve already said too much. The full episode for the lesson is below. Y’all might want to grab some popcorn and a notepad for this one because mane…….
